Auburn High School will host a Military Fair on Tuesday, January 28th, for high school juniors and seniors. Students interested in pursuing a career in the military will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from military branches in the main gym at Auburn from 11:00am – 1:00pm (enter at the main entrance). The branches of the military will talk with students about what they do, careers that exist in their branches, expectations, and more. Only students seriously interested in joining the military should attend. Students from all RPS high schools are invited. If you have a student or if you are a student interested in attending, please see your Academy Coach.

All RPS 205 schools are closed today because of the colder than expected weather. All after-school activities are also cancelled including Y Care. The RPS 205 Admin Bldg, Sterling Holley, & Ops Support Ctr will be open. This day will be made up on March 3 (Casimir Pulaski Day).

East High School's Newcomer students presented their science projects to adult volunteers & fellow students today. This is a great opportunity for them to build their confidence in speaking English with an academic focus. Each student prepared Google slides and displayed a molecule model that they built. They presented about their favorite molecules, the practical uses of this molecule, & how it affects their lives. The 78 students are mostly refugees from Tanzania, Chad, Uganda, Malawi, Haiti, Ukraine, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iraq, Syria, and Kyrgyzstan. The majority of them have been in the U.S. for less than one year.

East High School will be hosting an Open House on Jan 21, 2025 from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Teachers will be available in their classrooms to speak with families and discuss 2nd semester goals. Seniors who need help completing the FAFSA can report to the library from 4-6pm. Interpreters for Spanish, Swahili, and Arabic will be available.

We are excited to share that the 2025-2026 school year calendar was approved by the school board on Tuesday night. It includes several important updates that reflect our commitment to aligning with neighboring districts and enhancing the overall learning experience for our students. Key Changes : Earlier Start Date: The school year will begin earlier in August. This adjustment is possible because all RPS 205 schools are equipped with air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable learning environment during warmer months. Fall Break: We will continue to offer a full week off for Fall Break, giving families and staff time to recharge. First Semester Ends Before Winter Break: High School students will complete their first semester before Winter Break, allowing for a true break without pending exams or projects. School Year Ends Before Memorial Day: The last day of school will occur before Memorial Day, providing families an earlier start to summer vacation. RPS 205's DEI department took 28 students across all 5 high schools to College Preview Day at Central State University on November 8th – 9th. Students experienced campus life & learned more about college opportunities at one of the Midwest premier HBCU including: ● Cheer, Band, and Choir performances ● Met current students, faculty, & university leadership ● Toured residence halls, student support services, & other facilities ● Attended the Greek Stroll ● Attended the Football game against their rival Kentucky State University

PROJECT COMPLETE: Both Swanson (Guilford/East) & Wyeth (Auburn/Jefferson) had their stadiums renovated. Improvements started in April and ended in October. Highlights: Main grandstands included concrete repairs, underside painting, & replacement of bleachers with new aluminum bench seating. Visitor bleachers were serviced & repaired. Renovations to the press boxes including new roof, doors, countertops, flooring, painting, & lighting. Painting of stadium light poles and relocation of sound system.
